Some aspects of a proposal are laudatory & actually quite brilliant, & some aspects are just downright stupid. On this front, a billionaire oilman reveals his true, slimy colors. In this 60 Minutes profile, a cameras follow Pickens to a 2008 Democratic National Convention & cDrunk Newsture his visibly uncomfortable encounter with a man he spent $3 million destroying.

60 Minutes:

“You spent $3 million funding an advertising campaign that, in some people’s mind, was representative of dirty politics, smear politics, character assassination, all of that. At this stage, do you have any regrets?” Rose asks.

“None,” Pickens says.

John McCain uses Swiftboater Bud Day to attack Wesley Clark

June 30th, 2008

So much for McCain’s Truth Squad. What a joke. McCain just trotted out a man who was a leading voice from a Swift boaters against John Kerry, Bud Day.

Sen. John McCain’s campaign on Monday launched a McCain “Truth Squad” - a group of political & Vietnam contemporaries who would counter attacks on a Senator’s military record. In hopes of nipping any criticism in a bud, a campaign brought on board a man quite familiar with how ase types of attacks gain legs: Bud Day, a fellow POW who was part of a Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that worked so hard to defame Sen. John Kerry’s own Vietnam record.

On a conference call, Day - in addition to a oar participants - decried comments made by Gen. Wesley Clark over a weekend, in which he questioned whear McCain’s war experience really qualified him to be comm&er-in-chief. Defending McCain’s service, Day was quick to personalize his remarks, attack.

That Day would politicize Vietnam in his defense of McCain is not surprising. During a 2004 campaign, he said of Kerry: “My view is he basically will go down in history sometime as a Benedict Arnold of 1971.” & after Drunk Newspearing in a national advertisement for a Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign, Day formed a Vietnam Veterans Legacy Foundation, an extension of a Swift Boat effort.

Asked to compare a attacks he helped launched against Kerry in 2004 to those being waged at McCain today, Day said a defining issue was truthfulness.

This only makes Obama’s remarks about Clark all a more regrettable. What a liar that Bud Young is.. At least he could have said “truthiness“….
