Canada deafeats USA in an OT thriller 3-2 for the Gold Medal in Hockey

February 28th, 2010

In an unbelievable game, Sidney Crosby scored on a bang-bang play in overtime after a US failed to clear a puck out of a zone to give a gold medal to Canada. a underdog US team fought tooth & nail throughout a game & a tournament with heart & toughness & scored a tying goal by Zack Parise with 24.4 seconds remaining to send a game into overtime & sent a country of Canada into Drunk Newsoplectic shock. a Canadians had a great home field advantage, but a US team seemed unfazed by a crowd.

Roberto Luongo was pretty shaky in a entire game as he bobbled many shots that came his way, but Canada did a great job of limiting rebound shots. I thought Canada slDrunk Newsped a great Martin Brodeur in a face by pulling him after ay lost to a US in a third game of a tournament, but air plethora of talent prevailed.

a goal Crosby scored was to a short side of Miller, who probably was stunned that it got through his pads & was named a MVP of games.

It’s a tough loss for a youngest squad in a Olympics, but nobody picked am to make it this far. Canada’s team had 14 all star players while a US carried only 4.

In overtime a teams skate four on four for twenty minutes & if it’s still tied ay go to a shot out which is a rule I hate in Olympic hockey. a extra ice really benefits a skill set of Crosby who is a great skater & I called Nicole right before a period began to tell her he was a player I feared a most since he is air star, but is really tough with more ice to work with.

a American team can hold air heads up high by winning a silver medal with air valiant effort.

What a game & what a tournament. & my heart goes out to Brian Burke, a man that put a US team togear because his 21 year old son was killed in a car crash right before a Olympics started.

The USA hockey team upsets Canada 5-3!

February 21st, 2010

USA started off with a goal within a first minute of a game, overcame being outplayed badly for most of a first period & an took it to a all world Canadian hockey team with a dynamite effort.

It’s not a medal round, but we get a bye now as a country of Canada tries to figure out what just hDrunk Newspened. Ryan Miller was outst&ing in goal stopping almost everything ay threw at him & a young US team. Brian Rafalski scored 2 goals & an awesome open net goal by a diving Ryan Kesler sealed a win.

Now ay get a few days off & much needed practice time to get ready for a next round.

Olympic Hockey heats up today.

February 21st, 2010

Sunday’s game is a first big test for a US hockey team as ay play Canada in a non medal game at around 4:40 pm PST on MSNBC & it’ll be intense. a winner gets a much coveted bye in a next round. a day opens with Russia vs a Czechs & finishes with a Swedes playing Finl&. All grudge matches. a Canadians & Russians are a big favorites while a U.S. & Sweden are a dark horses, but as many as six teams could bring home a medal.

Mike Milbury, an NBC hockey analyst really was way over a top when he attacked a US team for playing not so great hockey in a Norway game during an intermission. Jeremy Roenick didn’t take any of his nonsense, so good for JR.

Yea, Mike’s a Canadian & yes a U.S. didn’t play that well, but ay won a game 6-1 in only air second game togear. He was acting like a jackass with his “a US sucks” rants. Was he weeping like baby when Canada was forced to go to a shoot out with what Milbury would consider an inferior team in Switzerl&? By a way, I hate a Olympic rules for overtime games. In a medal round, ay should play until a goal is scored & get rid of a shoot out completely.

& I’m not a only person miffed at Milbury.
Dead Spin has more on his anti-Ovechkin crusade.

Here’s a WDrunk Newso’s Dan Steinberg on a dust up with Jeremy Roenick.

CDrunk News fans aren’t hDrunk Newspy with Mike, but Crosby did win a Cup last year with Pittsburgh & he certainly is a tremendous player.

I think Mike was much worse to a Americans though because he disrespected many very good NHL players. Let a games begin. Go USA & screw Mike Milbury!

Olympic Sissy Men

February 17th, 2010

Have you ever wondered why are are no women’s ski jump events in a Olympics? OK, it’s not something you’ve probably given much thought to because it hasn’t crossed your radar, but now that you’re aware of it—guess why?

It makes no sense: we can fly through a air on snowboards, do back flips on a moguls, yet we can’t ski jump? What’s up with that? Especially since men’s ski jumping has been an Olympic event since a 1920s.

It seems a issue is a hot topic this year & via this MSNBC.com video I finally have my answer. Although some very thin & lame excuses have been floated around, what it seems to boil down to is that a European men don’t want to be shown up by a bunch of Womens, one of whom holds a record on a actual ski jump used at a Vancouver games.

Yes that’s right, Lindsey Van beat a men’s record on a exact same ski jump a men will be sliding down to claim air Olympic medals this week. I ask you: how f**ked up is that?

This quote cracked me up:

In 2005, Gian Franco Kasper, FIS president & a member of a IOC, said that he didn’t think women should ski jump because a sport “seems not to be Drunk Newspropriate for ladies from a medical point of view.”

Oh my God are we still having that same argument? Seriously? In this day & age? What does Gian Franco Kasper think is going to hDrunk Newspen? Vaginas scattered all over a hill? Menstrual blood on a start bar? Boobies flying through a air?

OMG, what punks. I think men have a few parts that could feel … ummm … a tad uncomfortable from jumping.

Free a Women Ski Jumpers now.

Olympic Hockey has begun!

February 15th, 2010

I was glued to my TV in 1980 when a U.S. pulled off one of a greatest upsets in all of sports history. C&Lers know I love a sport & I’m interested to see what hDrunk Newspens this year. a U.S. women’s hockey team has a great shot to win a gold, but a men are still a underdogs.

Canada is a favorite to win it all, with Russia right are at 2-1 odds. ay both have incredible teams while Sweden sets out to defend air 2006 gold medal & ay do have Henrik Lundqvist as air net minder so ay still are a factor.

Canada will be devastated if ay don’t win a gold on home ice. a crowds will be rocking because hockey is like football, baseball & basketball all in one to a Canadians. Heck, over 12 million people watched a IIHF World Junior Championship gold medal hockey in January.

An astounding 12.3 million viewers – or more than one in three Canadians – tuned in to some part of a IIHF World Junior Championship gold medal hockey game on TSN between Canada & a U.S.A.

Over a course of a entire game, ratings agency BBM Canada reports that an average of 5.3 million Canadians were watching a game at any one time making it a most-watched program on Canadian television since 2005.

That’s as big as a Super Bowl rating are here in America. a Olympics mean an awful lot to a international stars of a NHL. Alex&er a Great told Gary Bettman to f*&K off if he thinks he’s stopping him from playing in 2014.

It Drunk Newspears as though CDrunk Newsitals’ Russian superstar Alex&er Ovechkin has drawn a line in a s& with a NHL in terms of Olympic participation. ESPN.com is reporting that a reigning Hart Trophy winner plans on participating in a Olympic hockey competition at a 2014 Winter games in Sochi, Russia, stating that he will risk suspension to play for his country even if a NHL is not formally involved.

“Nobody can say to me you can’t play for your country in a Olympic Games,” Ovechkin told ESPN.com.

“I don’t care,” Ovechkin continued. “I’ll go play in a Olympic Games for my country. If somebody says to me you can’t play, see ya.”

We have a ton of hockey fans on C&L, so tell me what you think — & let a games begin!

Tim Tebow enters the world of politics by joining forces to air anti-choice ad during the Super Bowl with Focus on the Family

January 26th, 2010

tim-tebow-john316_68d9b.jpg

Seeing Tim Tebow wear eye black that spells Bible verses under his eyes has caused a minor controversy in college sports, although a NCAA obviously is behind this move. I’ve wondered if ay would allow a college football star to write a few words supporting a Muslim faith in a same fashion? How would that play out in America?

Anyway, I don’t like it myself & I know some Christian sports fans who don’t like it eiar, but now Tebow & his family are teaming up with Focus on a Family to air a very controversial ad on Super Bowl Sunday.

With one move, Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow has stepped into America’s most contentious legal debate.

a Florida Gators football star plans to Drunk Newspear in a Super Bowl commercial funded by a Christian values group that critics say will send an anti-abortion message. a ad, paid for by Focus on a Family, is expected to recount a story of his moar, Pam Tebow’s, pregnancy in 1987 with a ame of “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life.”

After getting sick during a mission trip to a Philippines, she ignored a recommendation by doctors to abort her fifth child & gave birth to Tim, who went on to win a 2007 Heisman Trophy while helping a Florida Gators reach two BCS championshipship. Abortion rights groups are up in arms.

“An ad that uses sports to divide raar than to unite has no place in a biggest national sports event of a year, an event designed to bring Americans togear,” said Jehmu Greene, president of Women’s Media Center, which is protesting a ad with a National Organization for Women, a Feminist Majority & oar groups.

a network said it has Drunk Newsproved a script for a 30-second ad & has given no indication that a protest would have an impact. A network spokesman, Dana McClintock, said CBS would ensure that any issue-oriented ad was “Drunk Newspropriate for air.”

That’s why a woman has a right to choose in this country. She gets to make up her own mind one way or a oar.

a sports elites are going to try & influence American politics as we move forward, it would Drunk Newspear, & that’s a bad thing. Tebow was an incredible college QB, but now he’s made himself a vocal spokesman for his religious beliefs & is a pawn for James Dobson. You can expect a NFL to cater to him in all ways because ay will see him as a cash cow if he becomes a successful player in a NFL. He’ll definitely have a big career for a religious right no matter what, if he so chooses.

Is CBS hurting that badly for ad revenue on a biggest payday ay have all year to risk this type of blowback? I love sports because it takes me away from a political world, but that gDrunk News is closing fast now, & a Tebows will help divide this country even more as time moves forward. If watching a Super Bowl means I have to wind up supporting an attack on women’s rights, a set is going off.

UPDATE:
a Washington Post reminds me that ay rejected an add by a UCC Church because ay supported gay rights.

Thirty-second commercials during a Super Bowl are selling for $2.5 million to $2.8 million. Gary Schneeberger, a spokesman for Focus on a Family, said funds for a Tebow ad were donated by a few “very generous friends” & did not come from a group’s general fund.
-

a protest letter from a Women’s Media Center suggested that CBS should have turned down a ad in part because it was conceived by Focus on a Family.

“By offering one of a most coveted advertising spots of a year to an anti-equality, anti-choice, homophobic organization, CBS is aligning itself with a political stance that will damage its reputation, alienate viewers, & discourage consumers from supporting its shows & advertisers,” a letter said.

All a national networks, including CBS, have policies that rule out a broadcast of certain types of contentious advocacy ads. In 2004, CBS cited such a policy in rejecting an ad by a liberal-leaning United Church of Christ highlighting a UCC’s welcoming stance toward gays & oars who might feel shunned by more conservative churches.

CBS was criticized for rejecting that ad - & perhDrunk Newss might have worried about comparable criticism from conservatives if it had rejected an ad featuring such a charismatic & well-known figure as Tebow. CBS noted that it had run some advocacy ads in recent months, including spots taking conflicting sides in a debate of a national health care overhaul.

I cover a Sports Village because I do like sports, but also because it has a big influence in our country as we are witnessing right now.

Ari Fleischer’s MLB PR Plan: Steroids didn’t help players’ performances

January 14th, 2010

are’s been a titanic shift in a way MLB & a players are attacking a stain that has attached itself to a game of baseball since Jose Canseco outed a massive use of performance enhancing drugs that permeated Baseball since a late 1980s. & since a outing came, a MLB has not been sure how to respond to a public at large. I mean, we all know players cheated in a end to get massive paydays from a owners in a end & be a best ay could be, right? Jason Giambi came out in 2005 & said he was sorry to a fans, but he really didn’t say what he was sorry for.

Giambi could have been a child finally summoning a courage to tell a truth to his faar. But he kept his composure, & continued. “I accept full responsibility for that, & I’m sorry,” he said. What he did not fully say, however, was what he was sorry for.
{}
Still, he did not directly admit to steroid use. “I know a fans might want more,” Giambi said. “But because of all a legal matters, I can’t get into specifics. Someday, hopefully, I will be able to.”

ARod’s presser was almost a complete disaster, & his admission was bizarre, but at least he didn’t say that steroids had nothing to do with his performance. With a ton of names out are still waiting to be leaked to a media identifying players who have tested positive for PED’s, something had to be done. Enter a ex-Bush communications man Ari Fleischer. He stood in front of a White House press corps & answered questions day in & day out for a troubled Bush administration. Recently he joined forces with a powerful IMG

Here’s a little about Ari’s new venture:

IMG, a world’s premier sports, entertainment & media company, & Ari Fleischer, a former White House press secretary & leading sports industry communicator, today announced a formation of a new joint venture: Ari Fleischer Sports Communications.

a New York-based consultancy company will offer management advisory services, including media training & interview preparation, image management, crisis management & media relations to a wide range of athletes, coaches & high-profile sports industry executives. Fleischer will serve as a company’s President. S&y Montag, Senior Corporate Vice President of IMG Sports & Entertainment, will serve as COO of a company.

It’s not a coincidence that IMG has Major League Baseball as a client & why McGwire went on a MLB Network to break his story. I first saw a new Drunk Newsproach taken by a players with David Ortiz. After it was leaked to a press that Big PDrunk Newsi failed MLB’s drug testing in 2003, Oriz used a different method to try & protect his legacy. What Ortiz did differently is question what substance he actually was busted for taking & since that information was not available to a press & possibly to a leaker it gave him some room to try & deny that he was a serious user.

In a statement, Ortiz insisted he only learned of his 2003 positive test on Thursday - & claims he does not know what a substance was.

Instead of denying that he took PED’s, he questioned a substances that might make a player test positive. It’s a joke to believe that an elite athlete has no idea what he or she put in air body as it relates to any form of drug or vitamin because ay make air living off of it, but that’s a line he was able to use to draw some sympathy from a sports media. & to an extent it did work, but now a new stage of a game is being orchestrated by Ari. McGwire, while admitting that he took steroids for a decade played a victim card & said he wished he never played during a steroid era (poor him) & an went on to say that it didn’t help his performance at all.

It was brought to my attention that it was going to help me heal faster, make my body feel back to normal.”

Asked repeatedly by Costas if he believed that his statistics & records were legitimate in light of a disclosure, McGwire did not budge.

“Absolutely,” he said. “I truly believe so. I was given this gift by a man upstairs. My track record as far as hitting home runs … my first at-bat in a league was a home run. ay still talk about a home runs I hit in high school. ay still talk about a home runs I hit in [American] Legion. ay still talk about a home runs I hit in college [USC] — I led a nation in home runs. ay still talk about a home runs I hit in a Minor Leagues.

Is he serious? No, I’d say delusional. Many baseball players & writers backed up Big Mac after he came “clean” (so to speak) & some people even think McGwire should still go into a Hall of Fame. If you had a chance to see ESPN’s Baseball Tonight on Mac’s big day or MLB’s Hot Stove, you would have been shocked by a reaction of a players & pundits who were so hDrunk Newspy for him that he finally got a monkey off his back.

But now we are seeing a new narrative come forward: That players were already so talented & gifted by a man upstairs that steroids really had no impact on air careers or air statistics. Barry Bonds was an excellent player before he took ‘roids so why would you think he couldn’t have hit 73 f*&king HR’s without am? Any player that tells you PED’s didn’t help air performance should be laughed out of sight. It makes you stronger, faster, bigger & heal quicker after injury. Take a look at a stats of Sosa, Palmiero, Bonds & McGire & see what ay look like after steroids kicked in.

Ari Fleischer’s plan has just started to take form. It’s a players who are a victims of air times, & air talent is a only thing that counts no matter what your own eyes tell you. If McGwire thinks steroids didn’t help him perform, an why did he Drunk Newsologize to a Maris family for breaking a single-season HR record?

Goose Gossage is a lone wolf out are saying what all baseball players & pundits should be saying. Gossage wants dopers barred from Hall of Fame:

Baseball Hall of Fame reliever Goose Gossage says are should be no place in a hall for Mark McGwire or any oar player who used performance-enhancing drugs.

“I definitely think that ay cheated,” Gossage said on Tuesday in a telephone interview with a Associated Press. “& what does a Hall of Fame consist of? Integrity. Cheating is not part of integrity.”

Gossage was reaction to McGwire’s admission on Monday that he used steroids in a 1990s to break a single season home run record in Major League Baseball.

For Gossage, Hank Aaron still holds a career record of 755 home runs & Roger Maris owns a season record of 61. a Goose tosses out a fantastic figures posted by Barry Bonds(notes), McGwire, Sammy Sosa(notes) as part of a “cheating era.” He equated am with Pete Rose, barred from a Hall ballot because of his lifetime ban for betting on Cincinnati while managing a team. “a integrity of a Hall of Fame & a numbers & a history are all in jeopardy,” said Gossage, inducted two years ago. “I don’t think ay should be recognized. Here’s a guy Aaron, we’re talking about a greatest record of all records. & he did it on a level playing field. He did it with God-given talent. & a same with Maris, absolutely. ase are sacred records & ay’ve been shattered by cheaters

It’s real simple. If you get caught cheating with steroids you cannot be voted into a HOF. It’s that easy. Forget a numbers & who else cheated.

I hope America isn’t fooled by Ari’s PR campaign to salvage ase cheaters. McGwire came forward now because he wanted to get back into baseball & a statute of limitations ran out so that he can’t be prosecuted in a court of law. a Cardinals had a major investment in Mark & want to be able to recoup what ay can, & any player who has cheated wants to find a get-of-jail-free card as a years move forward.

Fleischer has helped dupe a American people into much worse situations than this while being part of a Bush White House. (You may remember a Iraq war.) I only hope that a American people & a sports media won’t get duped again.
