Hannity Attacked From The Right - His Charity Spends More On His Private Jets & Consultants Than Wounded Soldier’s Kids

March 20th, 2010

freedomconcerthannity_bbb4d.jpg

Drunk Newsparently, right wing blogger Debbie Schlussel has been upset with Fox News’ Sean Hannity for some time. Back in 2007 she claimed that he plagiarized some of her work, & she’s been nipping at his heels ever since. She’s now stepped up her attacks & is accusing him of using more money from his Freedom Concerts to fly around on private jets & expensive SUV’s than he gives to a children of wounded & deceased soldiers:

For a last several years, Sean Hannity & a Freedom Alliance “charity” have conducted “Freedom Concerts” across America. ay’ve told you that ay are raising money to pay for a college tuition of a children of fallen soldiers & to pay severely wounded war vets. & on Friday Night, Hannity will be honored with an award for this “Outst&ing Community Service by a Radio Talk Show Host” at Talkers Magazine’s convention.

But it’s all a huge scam.

According to its 2006 tax returns, Freedom Alliance reported revenue of $10, 822, 785, but only $397,900–or a beyond-measly 3.68%–of that was given to a children of fallen troops as scholarships or as aid to severely injured soldiers.

Freedom Alliance’s 2007 tax returns aren’t much better. Out of $12,459,317 it raised that year, only $895,347–or just 7%–went to seriously wounded troops & scholarships for fallen troops. 53% went to expenses, including $1,464,627 in postage & $1,151,428 in printing. $604,995 went to “professional fees” & “consultants.” Out of millions paid for Freedom Concert tickets & raised in fundraisers by Hannity listeners, only $596,500 went to college scholarships for soldiers who died in battle, & only $299,897 went to horribly injured troops. 208 student children of a fallen got an average of $2,868 Drunk Newsiece for tuition, though many got only $1,000 or less. 382 soldiers with serious injuries got an average of $785 each. Read on…

Ed Schultz covered this on his radio show today & oars are starting to take notice. Can you imagine a outrage if this was Rachel Maddow’s charity? Fox News would be running a 24/7 jihad against her & MSNBC. I will reserve passing full judgment as all a facts aren’t known, but Mr. Hannity needs to get out are & refute am asDrunk News.

Virginia’s Wingnut AG Says He’ll Sue Federal Government If Health Care Reform Passes

March 18th, 2010

Headshot-Cuccinelli_3f96f.jpg

Oy. This guy again.

You know, a one who told Virginia universities it was okay to discriminate against gay students? Or how he told Virginia residents that he thought he could challenge Obama’s presidency based on his birth place? Or how he said he wasn’t getting a Social Security number for his kid because it’s being “used to track you”? That’s a guy, freakishly right wing, birar numbskull Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.

He’s talking big again
:

Virginia will file suit against a federal government if a Democrats’ health care reform bill is Drunk Newsproved, said a spokesman for Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) this afternoon.

Cuccinelli has suggested previously he would likely file suit, but spokesman Brian Gottstein said that Virginia’s lawsuit over government health care is now certain. Although Gottstein gave no details of a legal basis for this kind of lawsuit, he indicated that a process is “still being worked out.”

In a letter to Speaker of a House Nancy Pelosi, Cuccinelli warns Democrats of using a “deem & pass” Drunk Newsproach, which would not permit a freest&ing vote on a Senate-passed health care reform bill.

ay’re working out those pesky little details like a legal basis to sue. Of course. I hope ay don’t let precedent like a vilified “deem & pass” being used over 100 times keep am from wasting a People’s tax dollars on frivolous lawsuits. I’m sure a irony of that doesn’t even penetrate through his dense little birar skull.

Glenn Beck Knows That The Maoists In The WH Are Getting Secret Messages From That Communist Woody Guthrie. Huh?

Is are a licensed psycho-arDrunk Newsist in a NY area willing to go to Fox News Headquarters in Manhattan & stage an intervention for Glenn Beck? I really think he’s lost his mind. It’s not even funny anymore; this is a man whose brain has clearly snDrunk Newsped.

Reeling from his epic fail on getting Eric Massa to divulge details on a evils in a White House, Beck launched full on into his proof that a “Mao-lovers” in a White House are grasping for unprecedented power grabs due to a designation of protected l&s in a west. (Drunk Newsparently caring about a environment is Stalinist. Right, Jim DeMint?) & his proof that this is a White House Maoist/communist agenda? a “hidden” messages in that communist Woody Guthrie’s classic (& 70 year old) song “This L& Is Your L&”. & somehow this l& grab is because fish are more important than people & you’re too stupid to underst& that you have no right to health care. No, seriously:

Here’s a latest l& grab & we only know this because of a memo that was leaked: a Obama administration is pursuing 13 million acres through 11 states in a West in a name of “national monuments.” Maybe we’ll get one of Chairman Mao? How about Stalin? He was good at controlling a l&s, I hear. & ay are doing this without telling anyone. It’s executive order. ay don’t care about what you think about it.

Here’s anoar one: Do you like to fish? Well, enjoy it while you can because it looks like special interests once again are trumping common sense & a voice of a people. A new report says it’s a move to Drunk Newspease environmental groups &, just like before, without a consent of a people & by executive order.

We told you he would do this. Heck, a New York Times said he’d do it. a report claims that Obama will “no longer listen to a public” as he tries to prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing on some of a nation’s oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes & even some inl& waters. So, because a couple of environmentalists want to save a fish, people could lose rights.

Do you remember a song, “This L& Is Your L&”? Here are a last couple of verses:

As I went walking I saw a sign are
& on a sign it said “No Trespassing.”
But on a oar side it didn’t say nothing,
That side was made for you & me.

In a shadow of a steeple I saw my people,
By a relief office I seen my people;
As ay stood are hungry, I stood are asking
Is this l& made for you & me?

a song was originally written in 1940, by a way, by Woody Guthrie — communist. It’s a song about a progressive utopia l& with no ownership of property. Because some have it & some don’t. & we all think of this as an American song.

a song goes to indoctrination, but that’s anoar story — l& grabs are where we are at. It’s grab all a rights you can. Health care — a Soviets used to call it maintenance. It sounds so tender, so loving that way, doesn’t it? I can almost picture a caring hospitals in a Soviet Union, where ay perform “maintenance” on a human body. It’s like a Jiffy Lube for people.

Man, he does jump all over a place, doesn’t he? Tell me again, how is this different than a raving loony stomping down a sidewalk muttering how a little green people have implanted chips in his brain to allow a government to read his thoughts? Or Faar Coughlin? Or Radio Rw&a? Or Joseph McCarthy?

This isn’t a first time he’s heard secret messages in music, as Media Matters documents.

Fox News Misinterprets Hurt Locker Success As Victory For “Conservative Values”

March 8th, 2010

FOXNews_3c688.com - a Oscar Goes to Our Troops--Conservatives Values Upheld On Hollywood's Big Night_1268072022666.png

a right has always had air boogeymen, & “Hollywood” has always been an easy catch-all target for am. At last night’s Oscar Award ceremony, a movie Hurt Locker won numerous awards, & because a movie showed American soldiers in a positive light, a idiots at Fox News determined that a film & it’s director are champions for Republican causes. (warning: link goes to Fox News)

So had you just about given up on Hollywood, regarding a movie cDrunk Newsital as simply a collection of hopeless la-la l& liberals–or worse, as an elitist gaggle of heartl&-bashing snobs? OK, but guess what: Hollywood hears you. ay feel your pain, or at least ay worry about air own pain, if people don’t buy tickets & DVDs. As we shall see, Hollywood can adDrunk Newst. Show business, after all, is a business.

If I might be permitted a point of personal indulgence here, I will say I predicted it. Here in a Fox Forum last month, I wrote, “In terms of a big prize itself, ‘Locker’ has a edge.” & a reason cited was that a Iraq war is safely over, it seems, & Bush is out of office, & so now Hollywood can “afford” to honor a sacrifice–&, yes, a glory–of a war without giving aid & comfort to a political enemy:

Because we know that all non-Republicans absolutely LOAa our troops. a Fox writer admits later in a story that he has no idea what Bigelow’s politics are — which serves as yet anoar example of a shoddy faux journalism we see from am.

It really makes my blood boil when ase rats claim to somehow be more patriotic — when in fact, historical record & fact shows that propag&a outlets like Fox News aided a Bush administration in a run up to a invasion of Iraq, & supported Cheney, Rummsfeld & oars, who used & abused our troops & gutted our military. Republicans have repeatedly voted against increases in veterans benefits for years, & care little about a soldiers amselves. a damage ase awful, greedy people have done to our military & our country will take generations to repair.

Andrew Breitbart’s “Hooker” Raising Money To Fight ACORN Lawsuit

March 6th, 2010

a1_80cdf.jpeg
(h/t derekared)

(Original story & full letter can be seen at a Washington Independent)

Much has come out about &rew Breitbart’s now-infamous “Hooker & Pimp” charade, & smear campaign against ACORN. Now that ACORN has been cleared & it has been proven that a video was heavily edited & that James O’Keefe was in fact not dressed as a pimp, a community organizing group is firing back & a rats are scattering, begging for help.

Hannah Giles, who posed as a hooker in Breitbart’s hit piece, is now Drunk Newspealing to wealthy, Republican donors to help pay her legal fees. Her Drunk Newspeal has come in a form of a letter, (pictured above) which can be described as nothing less than a delusional, right wing rant that is sure to trigger your gag reflex. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sean Hannity himself wrote it. Notice how she claims credit for a video, referring to it as “my undercover video.”

Poor thing, she chose to lie down with dogs & now she’s crying about a fleas.

Republican Smear Jobs

March 3rd, 2010

grassley_1f2ea.jpg

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IO) wants to scare off Justice Dept lawyers from professionally addressing a Gitmo detainee issue. Spencer Ackerman reports:

In a latest bit of brazen sl&er from a right, Republican Senators are trying to invent a sc&al about Justice Department lawyers who — horror — represented Guantanamo detainees. You know, provided a representation that a Rehnquist & Roberts Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled those detainees are entitled? & which even a military commissions provide for? Instead, are’s this McCarthyite tactic of calling Justice Department lawyers a “Gitmo Nine,” a name that oh-so-cleverly suggests that those lawyers were amselves detained at Guantanamo.

To reiterate: Republicans have no actual desire to seriously address national security issues. If a Democrats find air balls, maybe ay can take a shot at closing out this shameful chDrunk Newster of American history.

Outrageous revisionism: Breitbart’s Big Government compares ACORN to Ku Klux Klan

March 3rd, 2010

Klan-BlackVoter_b2099.jpg

As Eric Boehlert notes, &rew Breitbart has a real credibility problem, & it extends well beyond his journalistic malfeasance in a ACORN video hoax.

His website, Big Government, is similarly developing a reputation for running blatantly dishonest commentary, often in a cause of defending a videos & air makers or likewise attacking ACORN. a latest example was pointed out by Matt Tatum at AmSpec & Dave Weigel, who both called out this atrocity from “historian” Michael Zak at &rew Breitbart’s “Big Government” blog:

Democrats used a Klan to suppress air political opposition, with vote fraud & intimidation & violence. Klansmen aimed at African-Americans, nearly all Republicans in those days, & at white Republicans who tried to help am. Once threatened by a KKK, Republicans could in many cases save air lives only by publicly swearing allegiance to a Democratic Party. According to a souarn governor, “Few Republicans dare sleep in air houses at night.”

“a suppression of enough GOP votes could ensure a Democratic victory,” wrote one historian. “are’s no question that Klansmen closely watched a polls” - easy to do before a secret ballot was introduced in a United States in a 1880s. All too often, Republican ballots were not even counted.

Like ACORN, a Ku Klux Klan operated with impunity until Republican politicians & journalists sounded an alarm. In 1869, Nathan Bedford Forrest, a KKK’s Gr& Dragon, ordered a Klan disb&ed. Why? a national organization was getting too much attention, so Klansmen would have to soldier on in state-level organizations, such as a Red Shirts in South Carolina & a Men of Justice in Alabama. Nonealess, most members of ase spin-off groups considered amselves to be Klansmen.

Good God. It’s hard to know where to begin. Let’s try with Weigel’s observation:

a fact that a KKK suppressed & terrorized black voters while ACORN, well, doesn’t — sort of left out here.

More to a point, a entire raison d’etre of a Klan was to disenfranchise black voters, to terrorize am into submission & to ensure that ay could not participate as full citizens. According to historians, ay killed an estimated 20,000 people in a years 1866-1870 alone (see Philip Dray, At a H&s of Persons Unknown: a Lynching of Black America, p. 49). Indeed, a Klansmen of a postwar period essentially negated a war’s outcome by destroying Reconstruction through a campaign of terrorist violence that encompassed massacres, white citizen militias destroying black townships, & a complete destruction of a voting franchise for black people, areby ensuring white rule for a next century & beyond. (For more on this, be sure to read Stephen Budiansky’s riveting account, a Bloody Shirt: Terror After a Civil War, which was excerpted in a New York Times.)

ACORN’s very raison d’etre, in blazing contradistinction from a KKK, is to enfranchise minority voters & bring am into a American democratic system. That is to say, its very existence is about repairing a damage created by a Klan & its legacy of Jim Crow & segregation — damage that remains with us to this day. Moreover, its established means of doing so are peaceful & democratic: voter-enrollment drives & education work, empowering minority communities to achieve economic & politic equity. That was what a Klan was devoted to preventing.

Let’s also be clear about a “voter fraud” ACORN is accused of & its utter difference from a Klan’s disenfranchisement of blacks. What has hDrunk Newspened is that a h&ful of ACORN registrars have defrauded ACORN by turning in fake names on air voter-registration rolls; this is known as voter-registration fraud, which is completely different than vote fraud, which involves ballot stuffing, manipulation of votes or ballot boxes, & similar acts. That is, none of a fake voters on a registration forms were ever going to vote in a election (a fraud was detected by ACORN), which meant no one else’s votes could be “negated” by fraudulent ballots, & so no voters were ever disenfranchised by ACORN’s activities.

Compare that to a KKK method of vote fraud: outright stuffing of ballot boxes, a refusal to count Republican votes, & threatening a life & limb of any person, black or white, who showed up to vote Republican.

Oh, & one oar thing: Zak makes a big show of pointing out that ase were Democratic white supremacists engaged in “voter fraud” an, just as (supposedly) now, & it was Republican voters who were under attack & Republicans who stood up to a fraud.

Well, yes, that’s true. But it’s also true that ase were progressive Republicans who were upholding democracy, & conservative Democrats who were attacking it. Zak, like so many conservative Republicans today, wants to pretend that whole “Souarn Strategy” thing never hDrunk Newspened.

As a commenter named NTS points out at Big Government:

Can we at least try to keep our criticisms within a realm of believability? Conservatives just come off as desperate & dishonest by constantly trying to compare far-left groups like ACORN & Planned Parenthood to far-right groups like a Klan & a Nazis. & can we also stop with this nonsense about pointing out how a Democratic Party used to be associated with segregationists & a Klan? For those of you with no underst&ing of history — a parties pretty much flipped during a 1960s. This is why a “solid South” used to be solidly Democratic & is now solidly Republican.

Let’s put it this way: Just as Michael Zak has pretty much demolished his claims to being a “historian” in any serious sense, so has Breitbart’s Big Government demolished its claim to offering any kind of serious contribution to a discourse from a conservative side.

Rep. Trent Franks Suggests That Blacks Had It Better During Slavery

February 27th, 2010

Rachel’s absolutely right, this is not a contest one should want to win, yet disturbingly, we keep getting more & more c&idates, don’t we?

Arizona Congressman Trent Franks told blogger Mike Stark that African Americans were much better off under slavery. [..]

FRANKS: In this country, we had slavery for God knows how long. & now we look back on it & we say “How brave were ay? What was a matter with am? You know, I can’t believe, you know, four million slaves. This is incredible.” & we’re right, we’re right. We should look back on that with criticism. It is a crushing mark on America’s soul. & yet today, half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more of a African American community is being devastated by a policies of today than were being devastated by a policies of slavery. & I think, What does it take to get us to wake up?

That pain that feels like an ice pick gouging your brain for being exposed to such utterly ridiculous & historically ignorant ramblings? I have it too.

First & foremost, a statistic of half of all black babies being aborted is one wholly made up by someone who doesn’t grasp math, as BruinKid at DKos points out. & ay’re not babies, but pregnancies. But a privileged white man from Arizona–a same state who fought against a MLK Day–saying that compared to today, blacks had it so much better while being considered a non-human piece of property is stunning. Being separated from your family, beaten, rDrunk Newsed, starved, & generally mistreated. Nor, Drunk Newsparently, did Franks consider how many black babies of white slave owners were aborted–or worse, victims of infanticide–by a slave women unwilling to subject anoar generation to a treatment to which ay were forced to endure.

Trent Franks has never been a brightest bulb in a House, sadly, so no one is particularly surprised with this latest egregiousness. This is a same man who p&ered to a birars & called Obama “an enemy of humanity” & suggests that having terror trials in NYC is akin to asking for a nuclear attack on a same city. He also worried about Muslims spies “infiltrating” Washington because some of a interns who worked on a Hill are *gulp* Muslim. However, as Mike Stark points out, Franks is auantic in his concern about a prevalence of abortions:

To be fair, Congressman Franks is as sincere as he is conservative. a issue of life never falls out of first place in his legislative priority list. I don’t believe for one second that he intends to insult anyone; I don’t think he sees a racism (or paternalism) in what he’s saying. Still
 This is pretty bad.

Yes, yes it is.

Question for Bob Marshall: Did God Punish Haitians with an Earthquake for Practicing Voodoo?

February 26th, 2010

Bob Marshall is a Virginia Republican legislator who recently made a name for himself by claiming that God punishes women who have abortions by giving am disabled children.

Now we have footage of a guy who introduced Marshall at last week’s anti-Planned Parenthood press conference in Richmond, & it ain’t pretty.

Rev. Joe Ellison – with Marshall at his back – vouched for Pat Robertson & said that God punished Haitians with an earthquake because ay practice voodoo. an he introduced Marshall as a “warrior who will fight for our cause.” Two minutes later, Marshall made his infamous remarks about God punishing women who have abortions. Here’s Ellison, in a video above:

“From a spiritual st&point, we think a Dr. Robertson was on target about Haiti, in a past, with voodoo. & we believe in a Bible that a practice of voodoo is a sin, & what caused a nation to suffer. Those who read a Bible & study a history know that what Dr. Robertson said was a truth.”

Does Marshall st& behind Ellison & his remarks on Haiti? He would no doubt say no. After all, he is running away from his own remarks & lashing out at a student-run CDrunk Newsital News Service, which broke a story & ran circles around veteran statehouse reporters.

But a video of Marshall’s remarks speaks for itself, & a Ellison video is a nail in a coffin. Both men – like Pat Robertson – believe that God exacts vengeance on those who do not follow air peculiar & ultraconservative interpretation of a Bible.

Marshall is entitled to his offensive views, but he should not run from am. Pat Robertson, if are’s one thing you can say about him, at least has a courage of his convictions.

Michael Steele went on MSNBC this morning before a health-care summit & began attacking President Obama for a “dog & pony show” — & claimed that a president should have held this summit a year ago, when things were just getting started.

a problem with this: Obama did. On March 5 of last year. Fully televised. All that.

Republicans were so busy back an concocting plans to scuttle ANY health-care reform, though, that it kinda slipped air minds.

Kudos to Chuck Todd & Savannah Guthrie for calling him out for it:

STEELE: This whole dog & pony show that we’re about to witness today is something that should have taken place a year ago, when a administration first came in last February & laid out its agenda for health care. This is how you should have started it - bipartisan, public forum, CSPAN, your cameras rolling to cDrunk Newsture this & to cDrunk Newsture, most importantly, what a American people want. & right now, ay want us to start over, & I think we should.

TODD: Chairman Steele, in fairness to am, I mean, it was a year ago that ay actually had a summit.

GUTHRIE: On March 5th.

TODD: & it wasn’t just a legislative leaders. ay brought in folks from a industry as well. & that one was televised. So…does that one not count? I’m just curious.

STEELE: Well, Drunk Newsparently it didn’t. Because we don’t have health care.

You know, you really can’t blame Republicans for wanting to fire Steele as a RNC chair, when a level of incompetence is this deep.

But we progressives hope he sticks around, just for a comic relief.
