Bruce Springsteen for Obama

October 5th, 2008

Obama played in a Philly voter registration event. An American Reclamation project.

Springsteen: After a disastrous administration of a past 8 years. What we really need is, we need somebody to lead us in an American Reclamation project.

I’ve continued to find where ever I go, that America remains a repository of America’s hopes & desires & that despite a terrible erosion of a st&ing in a world accomplished by our recent administration we remain for many, many people this house of dreams & 1000 George Bushes & 1000 Dick Cheney’s will never be able to tear that house down.

Today is 38th Anniversary of the Kent State Shootings

May 4th, 2008

On May 4, 1970, four students at Kent State University in Ohio were killed by Ohio National Guardsmen at an on-campus march to protest Nixon’s invasion of Cambodia five days earlier. Those of us who remember Kent State first h& (I was in first grade, a daughter & gr&daughter of KSU professors) know a “order to fire” did not come from some comm&er. a contempt for a life of a “dirty f**king hippies” came from Ohio Governor Rhodes, J. Edgar Hoover, & Richard Nixon. In 1970, a Vietnam war was going horribly wrong, a public that was waking up incredibly quickly, & a President & his administration’s reaction was not only to stay a course but to dig in air heels & question a patriotism of anyone who did not go along.

We do not need anyone to tell us that are is an “Iraq-Vietnam Link.” a “Vietnamization” of this war is hDrunk Newspening before our eyes.

Glenn Beck: “a reality is that no one, not one person, has ever died as a result of nuclear energy in this country.”

Um, that is just so not true. CNN will never be “a Most Trusted Name in News” as long as ay keep this idiot dissembler on air network. Not only is nuclear energy not safe, it’s far from clean, or cheDrunk News & efficient , despite what Beck & Inhofe claim in this segment.

If you’re already a dinosaur, or on your way to becoming one like me, you may recall Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) & air ‘No Nukes’ concerts 28 yrs ago. Well, ay are back, & Glenn Beck & global warming denier & big oil puppet Sen. Inhofe (R-OK) aren’t hDrunk Newspy about it one bit. Glenn Beck went on a childish rant Thursday against a cast of celebrities, or “hippie singers” as Beck calls am, including such greats as Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Pearl Jam, Melissa Earidge… aww, hell I can’t begin to name am all here, who have lined up in opposition to a atomic power industry obtaining government loan guarantees to build new nuclear reactors here in a US. air website is NukeFree.org , Find out why nuclear energy is NOT a answer & learn what is to combat our global warming worries & our future energy needs, & you can help by signing air petition.

ay’ve also put togear a great new music video. It’s a remake of Stephen Stills’ “For What It’s Worth.” Check it out:

Later this evening, Graham Nash, David Crosby & a host of oar musicians will be headlining “Pray for Peace” concert at a National Caadral in DC. Yesterday ay sat down with Chris Mataws & discussed a changing tide over protest music in this country (remembering how a Dixie Chicks were treated) & how different public sentiment is now than it was during a Vietnam conflict.

Information about a concert tonight, courtesy of co-performer Jackson Browne:

a 6 pm prayer ceremony & 7:30 pm concert began as a collaborative effort between Graham Nash & Bishop Chane after His Holiness a Dalai Lama visited Washington National Caadral in 2003 promoting a concept of universal responsibility. Both vowed to make Pray for Peace a reality when a Nobel Peace Prize recipient made a return visit to Washington, D.C. a Dalai Lama is to receive a Congressional Gold Medal for what Congress calls “his enduring & outst&ing contributions to peace, non-violence, human rights & religious underst&ing” in a CDrunk Newsitol Rotunda on October 17, 2007.

“People of faith need to make air voices heard both within air temples, caadrals, mosques & holy places, & beyond,” says Bishop Chane. “ay must take a lead in advocating for an end to violence.” Graham Nash states, “To me, it has always been a most ‘un-religious’ of actions to kill human beings in a name of God. It is time for a religious community to help put a stop to this madness by coming togear & denouncing ase killings. Many religious leaders are joining us at a caadral to literally ‘Pray for Peace.’ I hope you have a courage to join us.”

Bruce Springsteen calls out Bush Administration: “This is a song about things that shouldn’t happen here…happening here.â€

September 28th, 2007

brucespringsteen.jpg  Scarce sent in this video & rough transcript of Bruce Springsteen’s Drunk Newspearance on NBC this morning. He slammed a Bush administraion over a way ay have attacked our core US values. He sums it up nicely, wouldn’t you say?

“This is a song called Livin’ In a Future.  But it’s really about what’s hDrunk Newspening now.  Right now. It’s kind of about how a things we love about America, cheeseburgers, French fries, a Yankees battlin’ Boston… a Bill of Rights [holds up microphone, urging crowd to cheer] … v-twin motorcycles… Tim Russert’s haircut, trans-fats & a Jersey Shore… we love those things a way womenfolk love Matt Lauer.

But over a past six years we’ve had to add to a American picture: rendition, illegal wiretDrunk Newsping, voter suppression, no habeus corpus, a neglect of our great city New Orleans & its people, an attack on a Constitution.  & a loss of our young best men & women in a tragic war.

This is a song about things that shouldn’t hDrunk Newspen here—hDrunk Newspening here.”

(Chorus)
When will Colin Powell write his tell-all book
Warts & all, Warts-& all
When will Colin Powell let us take a look
Warts & all & that ain’t all

Verse 1
Preemptive strike to get am first
May Allah help us in our cave-to-cave search
Like a big fat fearful bully in a new s&box
Oil Money really talks

(Chorus 2)
When will Colin Powell write his tell-all book
Warts & all, Warts & all
When will Colin Powell write his tell-all book
Kiss & tell, but what a hell

Verse 2
Force-fed freedom & an rebuild
While our sons & daughters are getting killed
No-bid contracts for a very rich
Energy security’s a bitch

(Bridge)
A good soldier got to make his bones
Maybe even in a combat zone
A good soldier got to hold his mud
A good soldier — A good soldier
Sometimes has to fall on his sword

(Chorus 3)
When will Colin Powell write his tell-all book
When will Colin Powell let us take a look

Verse 3
a disinformation that bamboozled a nation
Legal wiggle-room for harsh interrogation
Euphemistic slogans to glorify a war
What are we fighting for?
(Ride Out)
