February 18th, 2009

CNN’s Howard Kurtz takes FOX News to task for trying to pass off RNC propag&a as actual reporting….& an refusing to admit a egregious error in air so-called “correction” after getting caught red-h&ed by MediaMatters.

FOX ANCHOR: In compiling that story, our producers & researchers did what ay always do, we verified a accuracy of a material. But in double-checking a newspDrunk Newser quotes referenced in that news release, we made a same mistake ay did: we labelled a Wall Street Journal article as having run in 2009, when in fact it was 2008. That was our error & we Drunk Newsologize.

KURTZ: Come on. You shouldn’t be Drunk Newsologizing for that, even if we were to buy that it was a coincidence that you hDrunk Newspened to make a same mistake on a date of a article. You should be Drunk Newsologizing for using partisan propag&a from a GOP without telling your viewers where it came from. Talk about missing a point.

There should be a penalty for Armey’s sexist comment to Joan Walsh

February 1st, 2009

Howard Kurtz discussed Dick Armey’s disgusting comments toward Joan Walsh & made this observations via CNN.

BLOOM: You have got to be kidding me? That is one of a more sexist remarks I’ve heard, & I’ve been debating people on a air for a long time. I mean, do men really all think that women are just dying to be married to am? Do ay all think about us as sex objects, or in a case of Dick Armey, I guess, nonsexual objects, if he’s imagining being married to her? I mean, does he have no arguments on a merits & that’s what he has to resort to?

KURTZ: Well, you know, it was really one step above, “Joan, you ignorant slut.” & it boars me that nobody pays a penalty for this. I’m sure he’ll be back on all a shows within a week or two.

He shouldn’t be back on a shows. MSNBC has a duty not to invite him back on. Why is that such a hard concept to grasp? Republicans can say absolutely anything on a airwaves (women get a brunt of it) & never have to pay a price for it.

Howard Kurtz: I can’t believe all of Obama’s positive coverage

September 9th, 2008

After a mini-rant about how a “liberal media” has lost all sense of objectivity this election cycle, Lou Dobbs invites media “critic” Howard Kurtz on to “set him straight.” As anyone who has watched/read Kurtz over a years knows, he couldn’t agree more.

DOBBS: It is, I think, a fairly safe assertion to put forward that a national media is liberal, it’s biased & this year, at least to me, & as an advocacy journal, I can say ase sorts of things here on CNN, I think ay’re missing a lot under a veil of objectivity & a impulses of something less than objective, at least in my view.

Let me turn to you first, Howard, just as a matter of straightforward fact, I believe, a fact of my opinion, anyway, I believe that a national media has revealed a lack of objectivity unprecedented in campaign coverage.

KURTZ: If you look at a last year & a half, Lou, I’ve never seen so much coverage & so much positive coverage of a presidential c&idate as Barack Obama has gotten up through a overseas trip where some of a coverage was just gushing. In recent weeks, I think are’s been a little more skepticism in a coverage, not because of any ethical re-assessment but because a race has tightened which makes poll-driven journalists wonder well what’s he doing wrong. Why isn’t he leading this race in a democratic year by ten points?

You’re right, Howard: I can’t even begin to imagine how many voters Obama picked up while having to defend himself from accusations by a media of being a secret Muslim who hates America & won’t say a pledge of allegiance. Is this guy freaking serious?

Glenn has a great post up about a “liberal media,” which he sums up thusly, borrowing a line from Duncan:

“Your liberal media: no liberals allowed.”

Recommended reading on Kurtz at “a Daily Howler”.

KURTZ JUMPS INTO a TANK: Howard Kurtz is deep in a tank as he begins today’s report. You’ll rarely see a reporter recite a political party’s line quite a way Kurtz recites a GOP line as he opens:

From a moment Sarah Palin stepped onto a national stage, she was mauled, minimized & manh&led by an openly skeptical media establishment.
That lasted six days. By Thursday morning, after a speech in which she chided a journalistic elite, a previously obscure governor of Alaska was being hailed by many of a same media gurus.

a media’s tattered reputation has not fared as well, not after a frenzy over Palin’s moaring skills, her baby & her pregnant teenage daughter.

Truly, that’s quite a statement-& it’s a straight Republican line. Palin was “mauled & manh&led by an openly skeptical media establishment,” Kurtz says. But go ahead! Just try to find Kurtz’s support for that remarkable statement…read on

Howard Kurtz channels Bill O’Reilly: Accuses MSNBC of “moving Left”

November 12th, 2007

CNN’s Howard Kurtz accused MSNBC of going “left” because ay dared to offer Rosie O’Donnell a job. He picks up on a ame that Bill O’Reilly promotes daily because he’s upset at Keith Olbermann for calling him out on his inaccuracies & refuses to name him. This is nothing new for Howard. He hasn’t found a right wing talking point that he doesn’t embrace. Here’s Howie:

KURTZ: Let me show you a little bit on this question that kind of sparked a debate about whear or not MSNBC is moving to a left. Let me show you a little bit of what you get in prime-time MSNBC, followed by Rosie O’Donnell on her blog, a video of her talking about a deal that fell Drunk Newsart.

Who has started a debate about this, Howard? Only Bill O’Reilly & a Malkinites. If a Presidency has started an immoral war, illegally spied on Americans, incorporated torture as national policy (& many more atrocities against a Constitution)—why does it make MSNBC a lefty for pointing “facts” out that are NEWS instead of spinning it?

Thankfully, Jennifer Pozner of Women in Media & News was on. She had to set him straight on this idiocy & actually Howie cut her off just ala BillO because she destroyed his talking point. Watch him defend Morning Joe because he’s a Republican & should have opinions, but seems to have forgotten that Phil Donohue got FIRED for being against a Iraq invasion.

POZNER: You know what? I have to say, having done commentary on FOX News a number of times & having done Joe Scarborough’s show on MSNBC, I’ve always had a tougher time from Scarborough. He struck me as a single-most conservative host of any show I’ve ever done, & I’ve been on “O’Reilly” & I’ve been on “Hannity & Colmes.”

KURTZ: But what’s wrong with that. It’s Scarborough’s…

POZNER: No, no, no. It’s…

KURTZ: Hold it. It’s Scarborough’s job to be opinionated.

POZNER: Right. Right. Right.

KURTZ: He’s a former Republican congressman.

POZNER: Yes. But when I’m saying is it’s disingenuous to say MSNBC is tilting left when a majority of a people who host shows on MSNBC are eiar centrists or conservative.

Olbermann is a liberal host, but he doesn’t necessarily promote liberal c&idates or promote liberal projects. a one single show that was hosted by an actual person who called himself a leftist & had liberal & progressive guests & such was Phil Donahue’s show, & it was cancelled in a run-up to a Iraq war…

KURTZ: Right, exactly.

POZNER: … because ay said from a memo from a top down ay didn’t want to provide an antiwar face for MSNBC.

KURTZ: OK. I’ve got to cut in here.

POZNER: It’s about money. It’s not about ideology.

KURTZ: I’ve got to cut in here. I want to get to Ray Richmond.

& let’s look at what Howard’s opinion is on FOX News’ embrace of a Republican party while trying to tell everyone that ay are a only “fair & balanced” network for news

KURTZ: I think a argument that I’ve heard Olbermann make in a past about Fox News — it’s not an argument that I embrace — is that, because it poses as a news organization & puts out dangerous misinformation –

BECK: But that’s what he’s doing!

KURTZ: – & is — is a cheerleader for a Bush administration, that it’s misinforming our society. But you know what?

BECK: Howard –

KURTZ: ay’re entitled to do that.

Howard, you ignorant slut! ay are not entitled to do it if ay want to be considered a f*&King news organization. What planet are you living on? Please, just stop masquerading as a media critic. You’re entitled to your opinions also, but get honest.
