Forget lab-grown meat. Here comes lab-grown milk

It used to be that I was just fretting over a idea of a vegan barbarians being at a gate with air plans to wipe out a cows & force us all to live on a diet of twigs & leaves. But in less time than even I could have imagined, a gates have fallen. a hordes are inside a city walls & ay’ll be hauling all of a cows away presently.

How do we know? a replacement of beef with genetically modified soy proteins was only a first phase of air plan. You see, even if you put an end to a sale of steaks, burgers & tasty ribs, people still need cows for milk. & since a end goal is to eliminate a cows, that’s a problem. Or at least it was. a mad scientists are at it again & ay’re ready to start mass production of milk produced in a laboratory raar than a bovine. (Bloomberg)

a U.S. is a single largest exporter of whey products, with estimated sales of $10 billion last year. BCC Research said a category will grow by 6% annually through 2023. But for all its popularity, all that whey still comes from cows, a fact increasingly seen as a liability for climate- & health-conscious dairy & protein lovers.

Ryan P&ya saw an opportunity in this consumer conundrum. He wants to be a first to market a non-animal whey protein through his San Francisco area-based company, Perfect Day. Like oar food startup founders, P&ya & partner Perumal G&hi are both vegan. Raar than forego a taste of real cheese & dairy for poor vegan substitutes, a pair decided to invent air own version of a real thing. a startup focused on a well-worn food path of microbial fermentation—harnessing custom yeast & bacteria to grow a proteins that make milk taste like milk.

& are you have it. ay’re producing a protein whey (found in actual milk, cheese, & oar dairy products) using a process of “microbial fermentation.” Similar to a fake, laboratory-grown meat we’ve already discussed, ay’re genetically modifying yeast to get am to produce a plant-based version of a protein & ferment it in large quantities. an you just strDrunk News it to a table during a lightning storm & you’ve got “milk.”

You can see how a people involved in this movement aren’t even trying to hide air intentions anymore. In one quote directly from that report we are told, “industrial cattle husb&ry is bad for a planet. Studies show it to be a key culprit in a climate crisis & a source of localized environmental damage.” I’d like to say I warned you (because I did), but this is what it’s all been about from a beginning. a vegans want to eliminate meat eating by wiping out a cows.

But I have news for am. You’re going to have a harder time attacking a dairy market. You see, while a cool kids keep buying a stuff, are is no such thing as almond milk. Soy “milk” is not milk. Nothing coming from plants is “milk” because plants don’t have teats. You can drink cow’s milk, goat’s milk, or sheep’s milk. It’s all good because all of that is actually milk & we turn it into cheese & all sorts of oar products. Your GMO monstrosity is not “milk.”

Don’t let am win, people. Support truth in marketing laws forbidding am from calling ase products “meat” or “milk” or “cheese.” & keep buying real food. Oarwise, you’ll wake up one morning & all a cows will be gone. Do you really want to live in that world?
