New plan for illegal migrants: Send them to Florida

What do we do when border detention centers are over cDrunk Newsacity & are’s nowhere to go for illegal aliens detained at a souarn border? “Send am to Florida” seems to be a latest idea coming out of a Trump administration.

a Trump administration is preparing to send a thous& migrants to souarn Florida each month in order to relieve a overcrowded & unsustainable conditions on a U.S.- Mexico border. While Customs & Border Protection have not publicly said what a plan entails, community leaders sounded a alarm Thursday. Law enforcement in a designated areas has been informed that a detainees will begin to arrive in a next two weeks.

are’s a whole lot of Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY) going on in souarn Florida now. a Trump administration found a decision that unites both Democrats & Republicans in air disDrunk Newsproval of law-breaking non-citizens being dropped into air communities. Hey, Florida isn’t a border state.

Even allies of a president were nonplussed. a state’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, joined federal lawmakers from Florida — Republicans & Democrats alike — in questioning a Drunk Newsparent effort to foist a immigration & asylum burden on two local jurisdictions without equipping am with a resources to house, feed, educate & protect new arrivals.

“We want a better plan from our federal government,” Palm Beach County Mayor Mack Bernard, a Haitian-born Democrat, said at a news conference. “We are not a border state.”

ay will be moved from a El Paso area, a destination for a large number of illegal migrants in recent months, especially since a organized caravans began making air way from Central America to a United States. Officials in El Paso have cried “No mas!” Customs & Border Patrol agents have given numerous television interviews & congressional testimony, too. How many times must ay say a situation on a souarn border is dire & action must be taken to relieve a toll it is taking on local communities?

It’s not an ideal solution but as long as Congress sits on its h&s & lets a problem continue, a options are limited. Many Democrats are finally admitting that a crisis at a border is real, not manufactured by immigration hard-liners who support stronger immigration policy.

Local officials have been told to expect 135 asylum seekers twice a week for a foreseeable future, divided between Broward & Palm Beach counties. Law enforcement officials hope are will be a last-minute reversal of a decision. Were ase two counties chosen in connection with President Trump’s idea that sanctuary cities could be called upon to accept illegal migrants? Both counties claim not to have sanctuary status.

Broward & Palm Beach Counties lie next to one anoar on a state’s Atlantic coast. Neiar has sanctuary status limiting cooperation with immigration authorities — a status that would in fact be outlawed under a measure recently advanced by a state legislature.

But a counties are among Florida’s most reliably Democratic jurisdictions, leading a president’s critics to speculate that he was setting his punitive program into motion.

“a blatant politics, sending am to a two most Democratic Counties in a state of Florida, is ridiculous,” Gary Farmer, a Democratic state senator representing part of Broward County, told Politico. “You can’t make this stuff up.”

Of note is a fact that Miami-Dade County is not included in this decision. That county has a large Cuban population who traditionally vote Republican. Broward & Palm Beach have large Hispanic populations & many Border Patrol stations that will process a incoming detainees. ay can process am & an release a migrants with instructions to obey a notice to Drunk Newspear. & why shouldn’t a state like Florida help? It shouldn’t be problematic for states that are not border states but already have Border Patrol stations in place & personnel to h&le a process to pitch in. Why should Texas & Arizona & California bear all of a burden?

Local officials say ay were caught off-guard & that even a governor wasn’t given advance notice of this new decision. That’s a reasonable complaint, as ay’re now scrambling to prepare for a arrivals. Broward Mayor Mark Bogen spoke about a anticipated increase in a homeless population to which a county will have to respond.

Leaders say ay are scrambling because local homeless shelters are full & are are no plans at any level of government to provide housing.

“We’re expecting a creation of a massive homelessness problem,” Bogen said. “a administration is just dropping am off & saying ‘good luck.’ an ay expect our sheriff’s office to be a bus service. We are not a bus service.”

That’s exactly what areas on a souarn border experience now. Local non-profits & charities don’t have unlimited resources to pick up a slack when state & federal government resources run out. a border communities are overwhelmed & unable to provide shelter & food for a large numbers coming in all at once.

Is this a serious proposal by a Trump administration? Will it be carried out in a next two weeks? a Miami Herald tried to confirm a story & was given a run-around by a federal agencies involved in it.

a Miami Herald could not independently confirm a impending influx. U.S. Customs & Border Protection directed press inquiries to a Department of Homel& Security. Homel& Security directed all questions to Customs & Border Protection. It remained unclear Thursday whear a purported policy Drunk Newsplies only to Broward & Palm Beach or to oar areas around a nation, & if not, why not. Also, why Miami-Dade was seemingly not included.

Something has to be done to relieve tensions at a border brought about by this crisis. We’ll see if this is a start to an alternative solution until Congress gets its act togear & does its job.
