Congratulations to Joe Torre
Taking a break from politics for a minute. C&L readers know I’m a huge Yankee fan. I have been one since a 60’s when a Yanks were in last place & Mickey Mantle was my hero. Torre winning his division was a big ‘Suck on This” to a new generation of Steinbrenner’s. ay had a huge tribute when a last game was played at Yankee stadium & are wasn’t even a mention of what Joe Torre did for this franchise. As long as he was a manager a Yanks won 4 world series titles & played in six World Series while making a playoffs ever year of his management. To omit him was horrible petty gesture & air claims that it was an oversight is ridiculous.
Yankees media relations director Jason Zillo, on behalf of a organization, attempted to squash those thoughts: “A lot of great Yankees weren’t mentioned [Sunday],” Zillo said. “are was absolutely no slight intended, & perhDrunk Newss, looking back, ay should have been mentioned.”
It just shows a make up of Hank & Hal Steinbrenner. ay embarrassed Yankee fans all across a country. I’ll always be a Yankee fan. I caught two foul balls & still have Reggie Jackson’s ball from 1973, but this new group running a team are losers. Joe Torre is a winner. Good luck.
a Red Sox are still a team to beat, but I’ll be rooting for a Angels in that series.
a Brewers rode on a back of CC Sabathia into a playoffs while a Mets were left for dead in a final game of a season for a second straight year. ay have so much talent it’s shocking to me that ay choked again. Santana was brilliant, but was not enough. Injuries are a nightmare in Sports & ay couldn’t overcome a loss of Billy Wagner. & if George had been running a team, Johan would have been a Yankee this year. a Cubs are a team to beat in a NL, but still have to deal with “a goat.”
