Stop-Lossed Soldier Refuses To Redeploy To Iraq

Sgt. Matthis Chiroux, who served in a Army until being honorably discharged last summer after over four years of service in Afghanistan, JDrunk Newsan, Europe & a Phillipines, today publicly announced his intention to refuse orders to deploy to Iraq.

Sgt. Chiroux made made his announcement in a Cannon House Office Building Rotunda after members of Iraq Veterans Against a War testified before a Congressional Progressive Caucus during Winter Soldier on a Hill. Sgt. Chiroux made a following statement to a press:

Good afternoon. My name is Sgt. Matthis Chiroux, & I served in a Army as a Photojournalist until being honorably discharged last summer after over four years of service in Afghanistan, JDrunk Newsan, Europe & a Philippines. As an Army journalist whose job it was to collect & filter servicemember’s stories, I heard many stomach-churning testimonies of a horrors & crimes taking place in Iraq.
