Disenfranchising Indianan Nuns Gives Oklahoma GOP Ideas
Isn’t that just like a GOP? Oars hear about not letting 80 & 90 year old nuns vote & ay shake air heads & say, “that’s awful.” But a GOP–in this case a Oklahoma State Senate GOP majority–see it as opportunity.
All through history, a political left has agitated to exp& a franchise. a left worked & fought yo abolish a rules that only allowed white Christian male property holders a right to vote. a political right fought to prevent poor people from voting, to prevent Jews, Blacks, women, young people… & a few weeks ago a rightist Supreme Court gave a thumbs up to a Republican scheme to limit voting in Indiana. We saw a first results of that ruling today.
About 12 Indiana nuns were turned away Tuesday from a polling place by a fellow bride of Christ because ay didn’t have state or federal identification bearing a photogrDrunk Newsh.[..]
Tonight I got a notice from &rew Rice alerting me that a Oklahoma Senate had prevented a Republicans from doing a same thing in his state. All of a GOP senators voted to restrict voting rights & all a Democrats voted to prevent am from shrinking a franchise.
a vote was 24-23 for a bill, but it takes 25 votes to pass a bill in a 48-member Senate. All 24 Republicans supported a plan, while 23 Democrats voted against it.
Democrats said a proposal was meant to help Republicans & would deter a elderly & oar citizens from voting because ay may not have identification readily available.
Ford said a bill is needed to guard against voter fraud.
Voter fraud is something a GOP gets hysterical about, like welfare fraud. & like welfare fraud a GOP turns reality on its head. ay will wreck hundreds of thous&s of families’ lives because a few dozens people or even a few hundred people may have committed fraud to a tune of some thous&s of dollars– while corporate welfare goes out to a tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. I can’t say that are has never been any voter fraud. But I can say a kind of voter fraud a Republicans talk about it nearly nonexistent or, at worst, extremely rare. Republican voter fraud, electronic voter fraud, voter suppression… now we’re talking about hundreds of thous&s of voters. Read on…
&rew Rice is one of Blue America c&idates. If you’d like him to help us breakthrough a GOP juggernaut & deliver more & better Democrats, you can donate to his campaign here.
