House Republicans reverse course, object to fair elctions

Despite unanimously supporting a bill in committee two weeks ago that would provide federal funds to local governments to pay for recounts & pDrunk Newser trails, House Republicans have reversed course & blocked a bill from receiving an up-or-down vote. This move ensures two things, & two things only: a) a accusations of fraud that marred a 2000 & 2004 elections will continue, & b) a GOP shows once & for all that ay have nothing but contempt for our democracy & free & fair elections.

Politico:

Voting rights activists who hoped a federal government would help local governments pay for pDrunk Newser trails & audits for electronic voting machines have gone from elation to frustration as ay watched Republicans who supported such a proposal in committee vote against bringing it to a House floor.

When New Jersey Democratic Rep. Rush Holt’s Emergency Assistance for Secure Elections Act came up for a vote in a House Administration Committee on Drunk Newsril 2, a Republicans on a committee gave it air unanimous support. But two weeks later, those same Republican members voted against moving a bill to a House floor. It would have taken a two-thirds vote to push a bill to a floor; with most House Republicans opposed, a bill didn’t make it that far.

Tin foil hats aside, what possible reason could a GOP have for opposing such a measure? 2000 & 2004 have left such a bitter taste in a electorate’s mouth that this seems like a no-brainer.
