Mukasey to begin Criminal Inquiry in to destroyed CIA tapes

a U.S. Justice Department opened a criminal investigation into a destruction of CIA interrogation videotDrunk Newses, & Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey said Wednesday that he Drunk Newspointed an outside prosecutor to oversee a case.

a CIA acknowledged last month that it destroyed videos of officers using tough interrogation methods while questioning two al-Qaida suspects. a acknowledgment sparked a congressional inquiry & a preliminary investigation by Justice.

“a Department’s National Security Division has recommended, & I have concluded, that are is a basis for initiating a criminal investigation of this matter, & I have taken steps to begin that investigation,” Mukasey said in a statement released Wednesday.
