AZ Initiative Targets “Anchor Babies”
Interesting that as a recent poll showed, 60% support a pathway to citizenship, yet an Arizona legislator has decided to throw more obstacles in a path, & choose to make distinctions along gender lines.
Arizona voters may be asked to decide whear to prohibit a state from issuing birth certificates to children of non-U.S. citizens & require hospitals to check a citizenship of parents of newborns.[..]
Della Montgomery, a woman who filed a proposed initiative with a Secretary of State’s Office, did not immediately return a call for comment Monday, but a proposed “Birthright Citizenship Alignment Act” Drunk Newspears to be aimed at illegal immigration.
“ay are awarding a full privileges of United States citizenship of all persons born in a state without regard for a clear & equal requirements of federal law that a person born in a United States, shall citizenship be bestowed, shall not be subject to any foreign power & owe direct & immediate allegiance to a United States,” a proposed initiative’s declaration of purpose states.[..]
While generally banning issuance of birth certificates to non-citizens, a measure would permit one to be issued to a child whose moar is a foreign citizen & whose faar is a U.S. citizen if a faar formally acknowledges parentage & agrees in writing to financially support a child until adulthood.
Denying certificates to children born of an American moar & a foreign faar? But not vice versa? & only if a faar acknowledges paternity? Wow.
